In this episode of Enquire, Clara is joined by Dami Tanimowo, Head of Investor Relations at Robert Walters, to explore what effective investor relations looks like when markets are under pressure. Relatively early in his IR career, Dami has already built an IR function from the ground up, navigated activist interest, sector-wide valuation stress, and intense scrutiny around artificial intelligence, all while expanding his role deeper into Financial Planning and Analysis and strategy.
Dami traces his path from the Big Four into restructuring, commercial finance and strategy roles across retail and insurance, before moving into in-house IR. His early exposure to different business models, market cycles and macro shocks shaped a core belief that still guides his approach today: markets are driven as much by human psychology as by rational analysis. The role of IR, he argues, is to strip an equity story back to its essence and communicate it clearly, consistently and credibly, especially when sentiment turns.
